Meet Heather

I am a proud Pacific Northwest resident. My family made Idaho our forever home in 2016 when I accepted a position working in Boise, Idaho. I solidified my Idaho roots when my son was born here in 2019. I am the oldest of 7 in a tight-knit family. In High School, I developed a love for serving my community. I volunteered for assisted living homes, participated with food banks, and coached youth sports. I attended college in my home state at California State University - Fullerton, where I received a BA in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in pre-law and a minor in Sociology. There I became the Executive Director of the College Legal Clinic and organized pro-bono legal consultations for students. Later I completed my education by achieving a Master of Public Administration with a specialization in Human Resource Management from National University.

In 2009 I married Daniel, after he returned from his deployment to Iraq. We were lucky to be stationed in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii and then Fort Knox, Kentucky. When he was deployed for a second time, I returned to my love of serving my community. I became involved with volunteering for the FRG, MWR, and other organizations that support military families.

In 2016 I became the Recording Supervisor for Ada County (later re-classified as Director of Recording). I have pushed for legislation to restructure recording fees and built relationships with other government agencies. Part of my role as Director allowed me to work with the national organization, Public Recorders Industry Association (PRIA). Through PRIA I collaborated to create the publication of two national working papers. I have continued to push for more accessibility, transparency, and communication for county offices and the public. I assisted with the passing of I.C. 55-6 altering restrictive covenants for residents. I also worked to launch the Recording Notification Service to provide notification of property records to residents at no charge.

In 2019, Daniel and I welcomed our son into the world. Being a mother has shaped my leadership style; I am able to relate to the needs of families, understand their fears, and lead with empathy - all things that are essential when making decisions for the community. I am extremely proud of the services I’ve been able to provide to our citizens, all at no cost to them. I am dedicated to serving this community, and have a passion for positive change. I am committed to working tirelessly for the betterment of Ada County.
